Glossary of terms.

Below is a layman's glossary of terms that are used through out this site. We have tried to keep the technical terms to a minimum but you should beable to find the meanings of all the most used terms in this section.

Anabolism:
constructive metabolism characterized by the building of tissue into more complex living matter, mainly muscle.
Anabolic:
promoting anabolism
Anabolic steroid:
Compounds derived from testosterone or prepared synthetically to promote general body growth, to oppose the effects of endogenous estrogen, or to promote masculinization effects.
Ancilleries:
Compounds used to compliment steroid products , reduce side effects maintain muscle gains post cycle.
Androgen:
Any steroid hormone that promotes male characteristics
Antagonist:
A drug or compound that opposes the physiological effects of another drug.
Anti-Estrogen:
Product that counter acts or halts the production of excess Estrogen
Aromatize:
The on take of feminine characteristics or feminization.
Atrophy:
Refers to a state of deterioration usually within the muscle or bodily organ due to a lack of use or health
Cycle:
The time in which a certain supplement is taken. If you take a supplement for 6 weeks it is a 6-week cycle. Usually the time on a cycle is followed by the same amount of time off of the cycle.
Ester:
A carrier for injected steroids. Can be constructed to give the steroid a timed release into the body.
Estrogen
Natural hormone that promotes the growth and development of female characteristics.
Gynecomastia:
An abnormal enlargement of one or both breasts in men. This condition is usually temporary due to a hormonal imbalance brought on by the use of steroids, however, can occur naturally as well.
Half-Life:
Defined as the time that the levels in the body are at half that of the starting levels of a given compound
Hepatoxity:
Liver disease
Libido:
A persons sex drive
Receptor:
A molecule on a cell that specifically recognises and binds compounds acting as molecular messengers
Testosterone:
Natural hormone that promotes anabolic growth and male Characteristics.
Thermogenisis:
The production of heat. Raises metabolism making it easier to burn fat.
Virilization:
The process in which a person takes on the characteristics of a mature male

A process in the production of certain steroids which allows them to be administered oraly. Prolonged use can cause Hepatoxicity
